New Book: Make Money Writing on the STEEM Blockchain

June 05 2018 – 06:34am

Since beginning to write on the STEEM blockchain eighteen months ago, I’ve cashed out over $4,000 US for my writing. The most amazing part is: Nobody had to pay a cent to read what I wrote.

That sounds way to good to be true, doesn’t it? How would that even be possible? The blockchain is revolutionizing how writers get paid, and my latest “short read” introduces you to how it works, and how you can get started earning for your writing. The book is called Make Money Writing on the STEEM Blockchain, and it’s now on sale on Amazon.

You may have heard me talk about STEEM on my podcast episode with STEEM co-founder, Ned Scott, or in the free STEEM beginner’s guide this book is based upon.

The STEEM blockchain is the backbone of “tokenized” online communities, such as Steemit. STEEM tokens are “mined” as users take action on the site. So, when you write something, or when somebody upvotes or comments on one of your posts, that makes STEEM Tokens.

Those tokens have value within the Steemit community, and are traded on a secondary market. In other words, you can turn these STEEM Tokens into cash.

Here’s one USD deposit I made (after I converted my STEEM into Bitcoin).

As someone who has struggled with “centralized” models of making a living as a creator, STEEM is an extremely exciting technology to me. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the ad-supported, data-mining-driven way of monetizing information online is unsustainable, and leads to click-bait titles, “fake news,” and Cambridge Analytica scandals.

With rising awareness and advances in privacy, such as Europe’s GDPR, it will be harder and harder for companies to cash in on people’s eyeballs and data.

While models such as Patreon or Medium’s Partner Program are fighting against the ad-supported model, they’re modest improvements. Blockchain-based media attacks the shortcomings of today’s media head on: It reinvents the economics.

Blockchain-based media like STEEM will become an increasingly-important addition to creators’ revenue streams. I wrote this short book to help writers understand this sometimes-confusing new technology, and arm them with the knowledge they need to get started earning for their writing on the blockchain.

Make Money Writing on the STEEM Blockchain is available on Amazon now, in Kindle, paperback, and Audible formats »
